There is a belief in India that a government job gives one security and balanced life, even after retirement. So, at some point in time, every parent will tell their child to get a government position. Sumit’s parents had the same dream for him. He, however, had a different plan for his future. He decided to evolve and explore career opportunities with startups. With this aim in mind, he moved to Delhi after his graduation and started attending interviews. After a couple of attempts, he got a job in a startup. Sadly, the tech was completely different from what he had dreamt about. In the span of a week, he cut ties with the role and, at the same time, got a call from Twimbit.
And so began Sumit’s journey with us. When asked about his career path within the company, his teammates shared that they saw complete growth in him across all fields – from the time he kicked off as an intern to a full-time employee and now, an amazing leader.
Sumit is the calmest guy you’d have the chance to meet. When asked about the source of his calmness, he shared that he never got carried away and always aimed to be the best version of himself. In his journey so far, Sumit has learnt how to manage his time effectively, focus on projects and excel in leadership.
There is a myth that every tech person would like to ultimately be in the workforce of MNCs like Google and Microsoft. Sumit, however, is not interested in these ventures. He sees that the learning opportunity gained from a startup is way beyond what MNCs can provide. He also feels that now is the right time to learn and build a tech career.
There is a common understanding of Sumit and his work quality within the tech team. If he has completed a task, there’s no need for a second check, as he is dedicated to a fault and a perfectionist to boot.
The lockdown has affected different people in different ways. Some people take the time to blow off steam and relax; others go and fulfil their bucket list. In Sumit’s personal checklist, you’d find that he wants to learn to play the guitar, and he can now play a few famous numbers from Bollywood songs.
Sumit does not realise the effect he has on other people around him – he is the motivation driver, the calm within the storm and the one who brings about smiles in people on an otherwise hectic and gloomy day. These are sharings from his teammates themselves, so we know it is true!
When asked about the one thing he wants from Twimbit, Sumit divulged his one wish, “I want to go on a one-week trip with the rest of the Twimbitians, just so that we can bond with one another.”
We also nudged Sumit to spare some encouraging words for those looking to excel in their careers. To this, he said, “Take it as a simple process and move in gradual motion. Do not be too hard on yourself, or you will get exhausted in the long run. Pick up new tech, and don’t go looking for wisdom in old tech. It is imperative to look forward at new trends and be in-the-know by following tech communities and developers on social platforms like Twitter. While other skill developments may vary by person, vigilance is a skill to sharpen; you should always know and understand what you are working on in as much detail as you can.”
